History

Background

The Pilbara Health Network commenced in 1998 and is based in Karratha.  It serves GP's in Port Hedland, Newman, Jigalong, Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica, Roebourne, Wickham, Dampier and Karratha.

Since its commencement as the Pilbara Division of General Practice PHN has grown and diversified its operations and membership to reflect the broader role it plays in primary health care in the region.  PHN  now has two community members on its Board, has broadened its membership to include allied health and practice staff and participates in a number of regional health planning forums, including the Pilbara Aboriginal Health Forum.

The Pilbara Health Network also operates a GP Clinic at Wickham with the generous support of Rio Tinto.
