Rural and Remote Mental Health

Newly funded late in the 2007-08 financial year, this three year program is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing.

The project is designed to provide primary mental health services into rural and remote areas of Australia.  People with diagnosable primary mental health problems will be able to access either a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, Aboriginal and mental Health worker or similar.

Our project will focus on Port and South Hedland and surrounding Communities and also in Newman and the Western Desert Communities.  A full time mental health worker will be located in Hedland and the other in Newman of the Western Desert.  In addition, there will be some fly in, fly out support.
